Supported by dedicated oncology nurses and staff, our physicians offer 24-hour-a-day coverage in an atmosphere of compassion and support. Cynthia Arcieri, MSN, RN, OCN, received her B.S. in Nursing and her M.S. in Nursing Education from Rivier College in Nashua, NH. She is certified in Oncology Nursing as well as Hospice and Palliative Care and is a national trainer for the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course. As the Director of Oncology Services, Ms. Arcieri oversees inpatient and outpatient oncology services including physician practices, nursing and patient care services, and the infusion and intervention units.
Ms. Arcieri’s previous experience includes Clinical Nurse Manager of both the inpatient and outpatient oncology units, and oncology nurse on the bone marrow transplant unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Currently, Ms. Arcieri oversees numerous community services for people with cancer and presents locally and nationally on oncology and nursing issues.

Paula Drake completed her training as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Rivier College in Nashua. She has been an Oncology Certified Nurse for 11 years.
As a Nurse Practitioner, certified in Oncology Nursing, Ms. Drake diagnoses and treats the side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments, assesses pain control and adjusts medications for maximum pain relief. She collaborates with physicians and oncologists as necessary.

Lisa Kennedy Sheldon received her PhD from the College of Nursing at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a concentration in cancer control and research. The author of several books and articles, Dr. Sheldon’s program of research focuses on patient-provider communication and nursing care delivery.
As a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Sheldon provides direct care to cancer patients being treated at St. Joseph Hospital. She delivers educational programs to health care providers and the community, and presents nationally on nursing issues, oncology care, and communication research.

At St. Joseph Hospital we are dedicated to improving the outcomes for our oncology patients. Our Oncology Nurse Navigator will assist patients at high stress points to offer psychosocial support, facilitate patient access to support systems and resources, educate to enable patient-led treatment decisions, liaison between specialists and family physicians, provide care coordination.
