Nashua, New Hampshire — St. Joseph Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Monsignor James P. Moroney to its Board of Directors, bringing decades of leadership experience in pastoral ministry, education, governance, and service to communities throughout New England and beyond.
A priest of the Diocese of Worcester and Pastor of Saint Cecilia Parish in Leominster, Massachusetts, Monsignor Moroney is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts in Catholic liturgy and priestly formation. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served as Rector of Saint John’s Seminary in Boston, Executive Director of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat for Divine Worship, and Consultor to the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Monsignor Moroney previously served on the Board of Directors of Saint Mary’s Health Care in Worcester, Massachusetts, from 2017 to 2025. His experience in healthcare governance, together with his extensive leadership within the Catholic Church, reflects a deep understanding of mission-driven organizations and the importance of serving others with dignity and compassion.

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, the Pontifical Gregorian University, and The Catholic University of America, Monsignor Moroney has lectured extensively across the
United States and internationally. He is the author of The Mass Explained and has received numerous honors for his contributions to the Church, including appointments as Chaplain to His Holiness by Pope Saint John Paul II and Prelate of Honor by Pope Benedict XVI.
