Visitor Guidelines

Whether you’re here for an hour or for the day, we know that friends and family members can be an important part of the healing process. Take a look through our visitor guidelines and information so you can experience an enjoyable and productive visit with your loved one. We know that care and support doesn’t fall inside a neat schedule.

That’s why St. Joseph Hospital has adopted a patient and family-centered care model with traditional visiting hours, starting from 8am to 7pm, with quiet hours beginning at 8pm.

Visitation Guidelines

St. Joseph Hospital and Emergency Department are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We recommend calling ahead to make sure you can visit.

To inquire about a patient’s room or telephone number, please call the hospital’s operator at (603) 882-3000, ext. 0.

The family centered care model continues on our Maternal Child Health Unit, where your support person is welcome to stay 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

While you are in labor, other adult visitors are allowed at the discretion of you and your healthcare team, with a maximum of 4 visitors in the room at any given time.

During your stay post-partum, your support person is welcome to stay 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Siblings of your newborn are welcome to visit while accompanied by an adult (no other children/minors are allowed at this time).

To allow for quiet time and rest, and to promote optimal infant feeding and bonding, all other visitors are welcome between 11am and 1pm, and 4pm and 8pm, with a maximum of 4 visitors in the room at any given time.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) visitation standards are at the discretion of the nurse. We recommend calling ahead to make sure you can visit.

To inquire about a patient’s room or telephone number, please call the hospital’s operator at (603) 882-3000, ext. 0.

Our Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBHU) has visitation from 11am to 12pm and 4pm to 5pm. We recommend calling ahead to make sure you can visit.

To inquire about a patient’s room or telephone number, please call the hospital’s operator at (603) 882-3000, ext. 0.

Dining on Campus

Sometimes, the normalcy of a family meal is enough to lift a patient’s spirits. Our cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the South Building and is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally, the St. Joe’s Cafe is located in the atrium of the hospital near the main entrance and is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to noon.

ATMs

ATMs are located in the first-floor atrium of the new ambulatory care building, adjacent to the Gift Shop and Retail Pharmacy.

Lodging

There are many nearby lodging options for family and friends during your hospital stay. Our friendly Patient Service Representatives at the Main Information Desk will be happy to provide you with a list.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is the perfect place to find a book, card, flowers, snacks or anything else you might need. Located in the atrium of the hospital, the shop is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon.

A Tobacco Free Campus

St. Joseph Hospital is proud to be a tobacco-free environment as all forms of use, including smoking and vaping, are prohibited on our campus. If you are preparing for a hospital stay and have concerns regarding how you will respond physically or emotionally to our tobacco-free campus policy, we encourage you to speak with your health care provider. There are solutions that will help you control your cravings and reduce your dependence on tobacco products.
