Covenant Senior Vice President and President of St. Joseph Hospital

John Jurczyk brings a strong background in not-for-profit and faith-based health care to St. Joseph Hospital. Prior to joining the hospital, Mr. Jurczyk served as president of Good Samaritan Medical Center, a Steward Family Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts, and has dedicated more than half of his career to Catholic health care. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from Bryant University. He completed his residency in Pharmacy Practice at Rhode Island Hospital. Mr. Jurczyk is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a Professional Director certification by the American College of Corporate Directors.

Vice President, Medical Affairs

Dr. Alison Madden is an experienced obstetrician and gynecologist who serves as the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Joseph Hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree in Art History at Barnard College of Columbia University, before attending medical school at Cornell Medical Center in New York City. Following this, Dr. Madden finished her residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Madden has served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology for three institutions: University of Massachusetts Medical Center, University of Hawaii, and University of California, Los Angeles/Cedars Sinai. While at UCLA/Cedars Sinai, she served as Assistant Residency Program Director and received numerous teaching awards. Before joining St. Joseph Hospital, she served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Dr. Madden has played a role in many leadership initiatives at St. Joseph Hospital, including outreach with other New Hampshire hospitals, COVID-19 response teams, and strategic planning committees. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Harbor Care in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Patient Care Services

Michelle Proulx, MSN, RN, CNML, is an accomplished healthcare leader with over 28 years of clinical experience. Currently serving as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Patient Care Services at St. Joseph Hospital, Michelle is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care delivery and nursing practice within the organization.

Having earned a Bachelor’s of Nursing Degree from Salem State University and a Masters of Nursing Degree from Rivier University, Michelle’s extensive education and training have played a key role in her success at St. Joseph Hospital. Additionally, she earned a National Clinical Nurse Leader Certification managed by the Commission on Nursing Certification, further demonstrating her commitment to field of nursing.

Prior to being named CNO, Michelle served as the hospital’s Director of Inpatient Nursing Service, where she was responsible for overseeing six patient care departments, including medical/surgical, intensive care, progressive care, float pool, nursing supervision, and respiratory therapy. In her previous leadership role at St. Joseph Hospital, Michelle focused on reducing the length of patient stays and reducing hospital-acquired infections, resulting in improved patient outcomes and higher satisfaction ratings.

Outside of work, Michelle is married with four children. In her free time, she enjoys family vacations to Disney World, which serve as an opportunity to recharge with loved ones. Her passion for nursing and dedication to improving patient care have made her an asset to St. Joseph Hospital and a leader in the healthcare community.

Gerard “Jerry” Hadley serves as Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer at St. Joseph Hospital. Jerry has over 25 years of experience in Mass General Brigham (formerly known as Partners Healthcare) System where he served in a variety of financial roles including Controller/Budget Director, Interim Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Finance.

In his most recent role, Jerry was the VP of Finance for Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plan. Previously, within the Mass General Brigham System, he worked in leadership roles in the Finance Division at Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 1998 to 2014. Lastly, and prior to joining MGB, Jerry began his hospital finance career at Lawrence General Hospital as Director of Accounting and later, Controller.

His strong experience based in health system financial management is an asset to St. Joseph Hospital. Jerry has a BS in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from Merrimack College in North Andover and lives just over the border in North Billerica.

Kara Ellis brings a strong background in strategy and business development to St. Joseph Hospital. Prior to joining the hospital in 2019, Kara served as Vice President of Business Development at Steward Health Care. During her 13 years there, she served in a variety of roles focused on growth, operational efficiency, and corporate development.

Kara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Merrimack College and a Master of Business Administration in Quantitative Methods for Business Decisions from Bentley University.

Outside of work, Kara enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and their Goldendoodle, Buddy.

Kevin C. Flynn is a Catholic healthcare mission leader and bioethicist with over forty years of experience in both acute care and academic medicine positions, presently serving as Vice President for Mission Integration and Ethics at St. Joseph Hospital (SJH) in Nashua, NH, a member of Covenant Health Systems (CHS). In this role, Dr. Flynn is responsible for the effective integration of St. Joseph Hospital’s mission, values, and catholic identity. He chairs CHS’s Environmental Stewardship Council, co-chairs SJH‘s Ethics Committee and facilitates its ethics consult service, and co-chairs SJH’s Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC).

Before joining SJH, Dr. Flynn served as a clinical administrator at Albert Einstein Medical Center (AEMC) in Philadelphia. Prior to this, he held executive positions at Temple University School of Medicine and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). During his career, Dr. Flynn served as the principle architect for the development and operation of LVHN’s Regional Heart Center, which was listed in U.S. News & World Report for Heart & Heart Surgery. He designed and opened two inpatient 24/7 hospitalist programs for LVHN and obtained Joint Commission accreditation for its Stroke Center. At Temple University, he expanded its Sports Medicine Program into the Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School network, embedding trainers into the schools’ athletic programs.

Dr. Flynn was elected to the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Council of Regents for Northeastern Pennsylvania, serving from 2000 to 2005. He was also a founding board member and treasurer for the Multiple Sclerosis Center of the Lehigh Valley. He is a senior fellow in the Panuska College of Professional Studies at the University of Scranton, where he has held a faculty appointment since 2003. Dr. Flynn was recognized as a visiting professor of public health at Saint Elizabeth University College of Health and Social Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he has taught graduate level courses in healthcare leadership and human resources. Dr. Flynn presently serves on the board of directors for the Front Door Agency, a Nashua-based homeless and housing resource center and chairs its Advocacy Committee. He also serves as President of the Board for the New Hampshire Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals. Additionally, Dr. Flynn is a member of the executive committee for the Greater Nashua Public Health Advisory Council.

Dr. Flynn earned his doctoral degree with a distinction in Medical Humanities from Drew University in Madison, NJ, defending a dissertation on Medicine in Film: A Reflection on Society’s Response to Healthcare. He also holds an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame du Lac, an M.S. in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Penn State. Dr. Flynn served on the ethics committee and ethics consult team at AEMC and completed the Intensive Bioethics Course at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics. Dr. Flynn is a member of the National Catholic Bioethics Center. He is board-certified as a healthcare ethics consultant (HEC-C) by the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities and in healthcare management by the ACHE, achieving fellowship status with distinction (FACHE).

Tim joined St. Joseph Hospital in January of 2020 and is responsible for all hospital and practice marketing, communications, and public relations.

An experienced healthcare marketer with a passion for creating positive experiences for patients and the community, he leads all marketing initiatives in the hospital and ensures the brand remains consistent across all communication channels.

Prior to joining the St. Joseph Hospital, Tim spent over 8 years operating a successful social media consulting firm followed by 4 leading the marketing efforts for a large, multi-practice dental office. Tim is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Outside of work, Tim spends a great deal of time coaching his children’s youth sport teams as well as being a founding member and board member of the Souhegan Valley Rotary Club.

Brian Winslow joined St. Joseph Hospital in July of 2023 and is responsible for major gift and leadership development, capital fund programs, and planned giving.

He has spent the last 16 years working with non-profit healthcare organizations in New Hampshire. Prior to this role, Brian served as the Director of Fund Development at Central New Hampshire VNA & Hospice, Executive Director of Philanthropy at LRGHealthcare, and Director of Community Relations at Granite VNA.

Brian earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, his Master of Public Policy from University of Southern Maine, and his Master of Science, Marketing, from Southern New Hampshire University.

Rob brings a strong background in Human Resources in healthcare to St. Joseph Hospital. He has dedicated his entire career to education and healthcare – creating a robust organizational culture that promotes growth and employee empowerment. Prior to joining St. Joseph hospital, he served in Human Resources and Training for twenty-three years in healthcare organizations and higher education.

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Education and Organizational Psychology from Salem State University of Massachusetts, and a Master of Human Resource Management from Emmanuel College of Boston, Rob has an extensive knowledge on the importance of communication and collaboration.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time with his spouse and three children.
