Kevin C. Flynn, DMH, MA, MS, FACHE
Vice President of Mission Integration
Kevin C. Flynn, DMH, MA, MS, FACHE, Vice President of Mission Integration, is a Catholic healthcare mission leader and bioethicist with over forty years of experience in both acute care and academic medicine positions. In his role, Dr. Flynn is responsible for the effective integration of the mission, values, and catholic identity of St. Joseph Hospital.
He currently serves on the Environmental Stewardship Council for Covenant Health System, Ethics Committee for St. Joseph Hospital, and Patient & Family Advisory Council for St. Joseph Hospital.
Before joining St. Joseph Hospital, Dr. Flynn served as Clinical Administrator at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Prior to that role, he held executive positions at Temple University School of Medicine and Lehigh Valley Health Network. During his career, he has served as the principle architect for the development and operation of Lehigh Valley Health Network Regional Heart Center, which was listed in US News & World Report for Heart & Heart Surgery.
He designed and opened two inpatient 24/7 hospitalist programs for Lehigh Valley Health Network and obtained Joint Commission Accreditation for its Stroke Center. While at Temple University, he expanded its Sports Medicine Program into the Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School network, embedding trainers into the schools athletic programs.
Dr. Flynn was elected to the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Council of Regents for Northeastern Pennsylvania, serving from 2000 to 2005. He was also a founding board member and treasurer for the Multiple Sclerosis Center of the Lehigh Valley. He is a senior fellow in the Panuska College of Professional Studies at the University of Scranton, where he has held a faculty appointment since 2003. Dr. Flynn was recognized as a visiting professor of public health at Saint Elizabeth University College of Health and Social Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he has taught graduate level courses in healthcare leadership and human resources.
Dr. Flynn presently serves on the board of directors for the Front Door Agency, a Nashua-based homeless and housing resource center and chairs its Advocacy Committee. He also serves as President of the Board for the New Hampshire Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals. Additionally, Dr. Flynn is a member of the executive committee for the Greater Nashua Public Health Advisory Council.
Dr. Flynn earned his doctoral degree with a distinction in Medical Humanities from Drew University in Madison, NJ, defending a dissertation on Medicine in Film: A Reflection on Society’s Response to Healthcare. He also holds an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame du Lac, an M.S. in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Penn State.
Dr. Flynn served on the ethics committee and ethics consult team at AEMC and completed the Intensive Bioethics Course at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics. Dr. Flynn is a member of the National Catholic Bioethics Center. He is board-certified as a healthcare ethics consultant (HEC-C) by the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities and in healthcare management by the ACHE, achieving fellowship status with distinction (FACHE).
