Michelle Campagna, Occupational Therapist, 4 South Rehab Unit – Michelle began working at St. Joseph Hospital 15 years ago on a per diem basis with Beth Cunningham’s acute in-patient therapy team, and now works full- time as an Occupational Therapist on 4 South. She graduated from McGill University’s Occupational Therapy Program in Montreal, Canada and has been an OT for 33 years.
Michelle was born in the US but grew up in Canada. As an adult she moved back to the US and has lived in 7 different US states! She loves travel, adventure and history. She also enjoys day trips on her bicycle or motorcycle, and is one half of the band, Moonlight Ride, featuring herself and her fiancé (and St. Joe’s own) Jesse Johnson.
Michelle’s nominating co-worker says, “During every initial encounter for each patient Michelle meets she takes into account what is meaningful to the patient to improve their current function. She links her therapy plan to match each patient’s goals and confidence while remaining attentive to their individual journeys.” She goes on to say, “Michelle exemplifies the very best of compassion and goes beyond restoring function – she restores confidence, independence and hope in her patients.”
Michelle said of her time at St. Joe’s, “I have always enjoyed working as an Occupational Therapist, but what won me over is my co-workers. I love the people I work with. The camaraderie and the support we have for each other in good and not so good times is a gift I treasure. I am so grateful to them every day. Thank you so much! I don’t say it enough.” Cheers to you, Michelle, our March Mission Champion and a shining example for others to follow – we are so lucky to have you!
Congratulations, Michelle!
