Emily Wall, Current Fellow (2023-2024)

Emily Wall, MHA is originally from Brewster, Massachusetts and earned her MHA from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. During the summers of her graduate studies, Emily worked at the Cape Cod Healthcare urgent care centers as a patient care representative.

During her undergraduate studies at Providence College, Emily completed a research project on breast cancer patients in conjunction with the University of Maryland. While conducting that research, Emily’s interest in healthcare and making a difference in the delivery of healthcare was born. From these breast cancer patients, Emily learned about the difficulties of navigating the United States’ healthcare system and the complexities of health insurance. From then on Emily knew that she wanted to make a difference in the healthcare industry.

Emily’s professional interests include process improvement, ambulatory care, and operations. When not at work, Emily can be found going for a run, sitting on the beach with a good book, or playing with her new chocolate lab named Bailey.

Doris Swarn, Fellow (2022-2023)

Doris Swarn, MPH, LSSG is originally from Illinois and earned her MPH in Healthcare Administration from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. While in graduate school Doris completed an administrative internship with Main Line Health in Pennsylvania where she expanded access to perinatal testing and provided a framework to improve the throughput process for environmental services.

Prior to her graduate studies, Doris worked as a patient advocate with the Camden Healthcare Coalition, where she helped patients in marginalized communities navigate the healthcare system and address Social determinants of health. She also worked with the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Public Health to ensure the community access to quality wellness programs through a program called, PhillyPowered.

Her professional interests include community health, healthcare strategy and operations, and healthcare policy. After work Doris enjoys powerlifting, crafting and community service.

Kristi Qirici, Fellow (2021-2022)

Kristi Qirici, MHA is originally from Albania. He moved to the United Sates where he attended the University of South Florida and earned his Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences. He then attended George Washington University where he earned his Master of Healthcare Administration.

During his studies, Kristi served on the MHA Student Association Board as Recruitment Chair. Working as an EKG technician early on, Kristi’s interest in healthcare administration sparked when he witnessed a breakdown in communication, ultimately leading to a patient suffering. Kristi was set to improve the workflow and quality of care.

Kristi’s healthcare interest includes operations, process improvement, and strategic planning.  Outside of work, you can find Kristi playing volleyball, working on his 350Z, or spending time with family and friends.

During his time at St. Joseph Hospital, Kristi had the opportunity to work in-depth on the following projects:

• Interim Department Manager
• Project Management – Exposure to projects with varying expected levels of responsibility
• Strategic Planning – Mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion of service lines
• Workforce Management – Interviewing, onboarding, staffing, and process improvement
• Data & Analytics – Budgets, performance scorecards, KPI’s, and quality metrics

Kristi played in St. Joseph Hospital’s 1st Cancer Survivor’s Kickball Game, which featured a team of 18 Cancer Survivors (Team Alive & Kicking) and 18 St. Joseph Hospital employees (Team One Kick Wonders), which included nurses, doctors, physical therapists, security, environmental services, and more.
