As part of St. Joseph Hospital’s mission, Grey Nuns Thrift Shop helps individuals find not only essentials but also unique treasures at affordable prices — carrying forward
the Grey Nuns’ tradition of care.
On any given day, the shop provides affordable clothing, household goods and seasonal essentials — while creating meaningful moments of care through partnerships with nearly 30 local agencies. This is reflected in the voucher program, which invites clients to
shop with choice and dignity.
“We welcome our clients with open arms,” said Michele Canto, director of community ministries. “The pride of our mission is knowing that every day we go home having
made a difference in at least one person’s journey.”
Community support strengthens this work, including the third annual Grey Nuns Thrift Shop Fashion Show. The sold-out event brought together friends and supporters
for an evening of fun and purpose, featuring 17 volunteer models showcasing 35 outfits curated from the shop.
The energy carried into a popular pop-up sale, with every dollar raised supporting the thrift shop’s mission. In total, the event raised $5,000 to purchase tents and sleeping
bags for people experiencing homelessness.
The Grey Nuns Thrift Shop is located at 11 Main St. Hours, and additional information is available on the shop’s Facebook page @The Grey Nuns Thrift Shop.
