Joannie Ieni Mission Champion February 2022
Joannie Ieni, RN, Joined St. Joseph Hospital in September 1995 when St. Joseph Hospital acquired Harvard Pilgrim Medical Group. She stayed on as a medical assistant but when went back to school at Rivier University to become a Nurse. Joannie said her mother told her that on her Kindergarten graduation list of what she wanted to be when she grew up it was listed to be a nurse!
Joannie is dedicated to always looking out for her pediatric patients and their parents’ best interest. Joannie does this by securing referrals, offering help with medications, and working as an advocate for her patients. Joannie makes sure her little patients are getting the best care they can when they are with her. One of her favorite parts of her job is teaching. There are constant teaching opportunities when it comes to working with pediatric patients and families. Joannie is part of a team that teaches a class to the new nursing staff on administering immunizations.
Lorie Lester, BSN, RN, OCN, says “Joannie has worked for SJH for 26 years and in that time she has been a wonderful caregiver and friend; she has such a generous spirit and kind heart. Not only is she a dedicated and compassionate pediatric RN, Joannie is a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She has enthusiasm for life and the work she does; she brings joy to others with her positive outlook and puts people at ease through her sense of commitment, caring and concern. Joannie places the needs of others before her own. Her presence is a comfort to others especially for her sick and vulnerable patient population.”
When Joannie is not hard at work you might find her cooking up some Italian food from scratch in her kitchen for her family. She loves to host all the holidays with her husband Sal and her 3 Children Steven, Michael, and David. Joannie is also blessed with Grandchildren Raymond (5) and Mia Bella (19 months). Joannie and Sal love to travel around the country and the world. The pair are avid hikers and have half of the “4,000-footer” (mountains) in New Hampshire already completed and plan to try and do the rest of the 48 of them at some point!
