Kristen Peredna Mission Champion March 2022

Kristen Peredna, BSN, RNC-OB, C-EFM, joined St. Joseph Hospital in March of 1998 as a Nurse on 3 North. Kristen learned shortly after settling into 3 North that there was going to be restructuring of the department, which ultimately left her displaced. Kristen had the long-term goal to be a labor and delivery nurse and she took this opportunity to apply for an open position in labor and delivery. Now, twenty four years later she a pillar of the unit and being honored as Mission Champion for March. Kristen is currently in the role of Assistant Nurse Manager on our Maternal Child Health Unit.

When Kristen comes to work, she feels like she has the privilege of working with such a great group of people that have become her second family.  “Being a part of a team that gets to bring new life into the world is an amazing feeling”.  Kristen says that she enjoys the teamwork that she has with her coworkers and the great communication that they have while working together. She also enjoys being able to educate new mothers on bringing home new babies.  She can provide many tips and tricks to new moms and her patience comes from building her own family over the years. One of Kristen’s most cherished memories was being on the other side of the job and delivering two of her children at St. Joseph.  She was able to be supported by her coworkers and see the great work they do while being the patient instead of the manager.  She said it was a great experience to have her team around her while delivering her daughters.

Christina Tourville, RN, says “Kristen is very well suited for her current role. She is very knowledgeable clinically and as a leader for the night shift. She is a team player and willing to help a coworker professionally and personally.  Kristen relates very well to patients and staff as having lived many of their experiences herself, which enables her compassion to shine through. Kristen always remains calm and has the ability to deescalate any crisis.”

When Kristen is not at work you can find her enjoying time with her family. Kristen has a loving husband Bob of 28 years, 4 children Brittany (26), Cameron (24), Maddie (21), Hailey (19), and 2 rescue dogs Reynes and Nova.  Kristen said her house is always the place to be in the summer for pool parties and fun.  You can also find her family in the springtime at Old Orchard Beach with their 5th wheel camper. If they are not camping you might find them traveling to Hershey Park, PA, or floating down the Saco River.  Kristen’s goal in life once she retires is to be able to take her camper to travel and explore the United States.

Congratulations, Kristen!
