Kirk Perry, MS, RT(R), Director of Cardiovascular Services & Diagnostic Imaging, Awarded Mission Champion February 2025

Kirk Perry, MS, RT(R), Director of Cardiovascular Services & Diagnostic Imaging, began his career at St. Joseph Hospital in 1997 as a technician in the Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab). After five years in this role, he was promoted to Manager of the Cath Lab. Seven years later, he took on the role of Director of Cardiology. Today, Kirk serves as the Director of Cardiovascular Services & Diagnostic Imaging, overseeing fifteen departments.

Reflecting on his time at St. Joseph Hospital, Kirk found it difficult to pinpoint a single memorable moment. He feels fortunate to have collaborated with countless colleagues and interacted with so many patients across various departments, each leaving a unique impact on him. Among those who stood out, Jim McKenna holds a special place as a mentor who greatly influenced Kirk’s professional growth. Kirk fondly remembers Jim’s kindness, humor, and entertaining stories – especially an unforgettable tale of his pool catching fire.

Judy Paradis, Registered Nurse, shares, “Under Kirk’s leadership, I have personally witnessed the Cath Lab grow tremendously over the past 20+ years. What started as just two procedure rooms and a middle core area has expanded to occupy almost a single portion of the hospital’s first floor. This growth is a direct result of Kirk ensuring the cardiac program at St. Joe’s has everything it needs.” Juliah Polito, Cardiovascular Sonographer, adds, “Kirk exemplifies exceptional leadership. He is a multitasker, motivational, kind, and approachable. Most importantly, he goes above and beyond to ensure every staff member feels valued and supported.”

When asked about his favorite part of working at St. Joseph Hospital, Kirk highlights the privilege of working with an extraordinary team that makes his responsibilities more manageable. He values the camaraderie within his department and strong sense of family, with team members always willing to support one another. Over the years, many individuals have played a role in his growth as a supervisor, and he remains committed to fostering a positive environment for both his staff and patients.

For the past 27 years, St. Joseph Hospital has been like a second home to Kirk. He believes work should bring happiness, saying, “Where you work is a choice, and you should be happy at work.” Kirk appreciates the relationships he has built, the opportunities to explore new technologies, and his interest in the financial aspects of the role. Above all, he strives to be a supportive leader for his team. These experiences have all reinforced his longstanding commitment to the hospital.

Outside of work, Kirk enjoys spending time with his three children – Noah (13), Emma (11), and Mya (5). They share a love of outdoor activities – including skiing, camping, and four-wheeling, which keeps them engaged and creates lasting memories together.

Congratulations, Kirk!
