Deanna Surprenant Awarded Mission Champion May 2024
Deanna Surprenant, RT(R)CT, began her career at St. Joseph Hospital in May of 1996 as a Radiologic Technologist. Throughout her 28 years here, she also worked as a CT Scan Technologist, before transitioning to her current role as CT Lead.
Deanna takes pride in caring for her patients and coworkers. When speaking with her, she mentioned numerous times that she is blessed with the best team because they constantly support each other on a daily basis to deliver exceptional and coordinated patient care. Deanna and her team strive to ensure that every patient receives the best care possible while at St. Joseph Hospital.
When asked about her most memorable moment while working at St. Joseph Hospital, she chose when she found out that several of her colleagues nominated her for this award – Mission Champion! Deanna expressed how honored she felt that so many of her peers took the time to enter nominations for her, highlighting her hard work and positive impact she has made here at the hospital over the years. A central theme among the nominations was that Deanna always takes the time to do the little things that can brighten someone’s day, and never misses the opportunity to give a helping hand to someone in need.
Ashley Sylvia, CT Technologist, says, “Deanna is the heart of our department. She is an amazing coworker and the best advocate for every single one of her patients. She consistently builds a rapport with returning patients, and treats every new patient as if she has known them forever. She is so knowledgeable in our field and one of our best resources. Deanna deserves all of the recognition because she goes above and beyond for every single person she meets.”
When not at work, Deanna loves to spend time with her family, including her four children; Alec (30), Katelyn (27), Kyle (25), and Joshua (21). Deanna also enjoys spending free time going to the gym, listening to live music, and visiting with her mom and sister. She has been caring for her daughter’s cat, Luna, and describes her as, “The loudest cat you have ever heard. She has a lot to say!” Deanna is looking forward to an upcoming trip to Aruba with her boyfriend, Tony, to celebrate 11 years together.
We’re excited to celebrate Deanna’s many years of hard work and dedication to St. Joseph Hospital, and cannot wait to see her continue to grow!
