Kristen Billings, MSN, RN, OCN, joined the St. Joseph Hospital team in 2021 and currently serves as the Clinical Nurse Manager in the Cancer Center. Over the past four years, Kristen has been instrumental in fostering a unified and compassionate care environment, bringing together three different departments as one cohesive team. Her leadership and dedication have helped create a workplace where collaboration, support, and empathy thrive.
Kristen’s favorite part of her job is the team she works alongside every day. She takes great pride in helping build a positive, connected environment where smiles and laughter often shine through, even during difficult situations that their patients are going through.
Elizabeth Rowntree, Oncology Nurse Navigator, says, “Kristen not only takes care of the patient, but the whole family. She seeks opportunities to utilize donations for our families in need, and always makes patients feel welcome and cared for. Also, Kristen consistently sets the tone for professionalism, safety, and responsibility. She creates a work environment where the expectations are high while also ensuring a fun workplace. Her open-door policy allows people to feel comfortable coming to her with issues that may arise. She is an excellent leader.”
One of the most memorable parts of Kristen’s time at St. Joseph Hospital has been witnessing the kindness and generosity of her patients and families. Many return after treatment to support others, bringing handmade bracelets, home-cooked meals, or even cheerful, colorful Band-Aids to lift spirits. These gestures, though small, make a big difference and speak to the deep empathy within the community. Kristen is constantly inspired by the bonds created with the patients and families they care for how they support one another. Another highlight of her year is Survivorship Week in June, a time filled with joy, laughter, and stories of strength and resilience from cancer survivors.
Outside of work, Kristen enjoys quality time with her husband, Brandon, their children, Hannah and Ben, and their two dogs, Beau and Luke. She loves shopping, relaxing trips to Maine, and those rare but cherished quiet moments at home.
