Jason Situma, RN – Emergency Department. Jason got his start at the St. Joseph School of Nursing and has been a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department for 3 years now, currently working as the Night Shift Charge Nurse.
When asked “what is your favorite thing about your job?” Jason replied, “I love my co-workers. My night crew, from the Nurses, Techs, Doctors, CT, Housekeeping and Security. We all work well together, and everyone is ready and willing to help or fill in where necessary.”
Jason’s colleague in the Emergency Department, Elizabeth Palmer shared, “Jason always provides compassionate care to patients. It is obvious the Jason cares for not just patients, but people. He shows respect to everyone. Jason has great rapport with the floor and always leads by example.”
In his free time, Jason likes to spend time with his friends and family, travel and watch movies. He also enjoys photograph and taking photos in nature.
Jason came to the US from Kenya when he was 16 years old. He speaks both English and Swahili and loves spending time with his siblings. He also has a big extended family back in Kenya. Jason shares that his first night in the ED was a very chaotic night and an eyeopener to Emergency Nursing. It was then that he realized that it takes a special person to work in the ED.
You are a special nurse, Jason, and we are so grateful for all you do!
Congratulations, Jason!
