When it comes to your health, we know you can’t always predict when you might experience unusual symptoms or an emergency. Our St. Joseph team is here to help when you need us most.
Don’t wait. Call 911 immediately or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency room. Your health is too important to second guess whether a symptom qualifies as an emergency.
If you’ve recently visited the emergency room or been hospitalized for symptoms related to the condition we are treating, be sure to schedule an appointment with us so we can capture this information in our records and follow-up on any additional testing or treatment. Please be sure to mention that you’ve recently been hospitalized or to the emergency room when scheduling your appointment, so we work you in more quickly.
We understand that some health issues are urgent, but they don’t qualify as an emergency. If you need assistance outside of our normal business hours, please call our practice phone number. Calls for problems or issues that cannot wait until our clinic is open are taken by our answering service and forwarded to the physician on call.
Please be aware we do not consider refills on prescription pain medication to be urgent unless the request is the result of new symptoms or a new injury. If your new symptoms or injury are serious enough to require a prescription for pain medication, we encourage you to go to the nearest emergency room for diagnosis and treatment.
Our St. Joseph team is here to help when you need a prescription refill. There are several options available to you, including the following:
The best and most convenient way to request a prescription refill is during a regular appointment at our practice. By requesting refills during a regular visit, we can ensure any blood work that is needed is taken care of on the spot. We can also discuss how to take the medication and any common side-effects.
If you forgot to mention needing a refill or it’s been a while since your last in-person visit, feel free to contact our practice to request a refill. When calling our practice, please be aware of the following:
Most local and national pharmacy chains have the ability to request a refill on your behalf once you’ve run out of refills or a prescription has expired. If your pharmacy tells you that you will need a refill, you can typically ask them to submit a request to our practice.
The easiest way to request a refill, other than during a regular office visit, is through St. Joseph’s online MyChart portal. Through the portal, you can request a refill, ask a question, view your health record and more. Please note, if you are experiencing symptoms that may be life threatening, please go directly to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait on the portal as it may be several hours before we can respond to messages and requests even during business hours.
