Why St. Joseph Hospital

Our volunteers collectively contribute nearly 25,000 hours of service during a typical year, where their time and dedication makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and staff members.

Discover the joy of making a difference, building connections, and contributing to the compassionate care that defines St. Joseph Hospital.

Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at St. Joseph Hospital. Some may vary in availability, and we welcome all skills. Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

Adult Volunteers

To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for our patients and staff, volunteers must complete an application and two reference forms. Once completed, we will be in touch with you to schedule an interview and coordinate the following items:

  • Attend volunteer orientation
  • Bureau of Adult and Elderly Services State Registry Check
  • TB Test (Completed through St. Joseph Hospital Employee Health & Wellness team)
  • Criminal background check (St. Joseph Hospital covers the cost of processing fees)
  • Vaccination history
  • Flu shot (Health documentation is required, or a shot can be obtained from St. Joseph Hospital Health & Wellness team. This needs to be completed yearly – you may not volunteer without annual flu shot)

Junior Volunteers

Applications for junior volunteers are accepted all year round, and we onboard junior volunteers once a year. An informational session is held in the springtime, and a confirmation email will be sent out to the applicant in advance. We request for junior volunteers to work at least once a week throughout the year. All junior volunteers must:

  • Complete the application
  • Be at least 15 years of age (If 15-16 years old, applicants must obtain a work permit to volunteer. The required form will be provided to the applicant once accepted into our program)
  • Commit to one three-hour shift per week
  • TB Test (Completed through St. Joseph Hospital Employee Health & Wellness team)
  • Vaccination history
  • Flu shot (Health documentation is required, or a shot can be obtained from St. Joseph Hospital Health & Wellness team. This needs to be completed yearly – you may not volunteer without annual flu shot)

What Volunteers Receive

At St. Joseph Hospital, we value your individual skills, talent, and dedication. Our volunteers receive free meal tickets, free annual flu shots, and invitations to social events such as our summer picnic and holiday party.
