Giving Opportunities

We’re extremely grateful to our patients and community members who generously support St. Joseph Hospital. We strive to offer donors convenient giving opportunities that represent the full range of financial circumstances. Donors may consider contributing to specific campaigns which support different funds and departments, or choose a planned giving option that offers long-term support. Of course, all our giving opportunities make a real difference in the lives of patients, employees and the community.

GIVE NOW

In addition to financial gifts, those wishing to donate masks (N95s, surgical masks or even homemade masks) may bring them to the hospital’s main entrance between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Brad Coffey, President of Foundation, at brad_coffey@covenanthealth.net.

Donations made to this fund will support patients and employees faced with unforeseen expenses of any unexpected crisis. These include medical fees, mortgage payments, transportation costs, heating bills and more, with 100% of all gifts to this fund allocated directly to expenses.

The most direct and effective way to overcome the health care provider shortage that impacts us all, is to support local students as they focus on mastering the knowledge and skills they need to provide compassionate health care for the whole person: body, mind and spirit.

Please make a gift today to the School of Nursing scholarship fund and support your neighbors who are pursuing their dream and standing up for our community.

The Covenant Health leadership team and board members have come together in donating to create our Covenant Hearts United Emergency Assistance Fund. It will be there whenever it is needed to support our hospital family when our local fund cannot provide enough support. Our Covenant Hearts United Emergency Assistance Fund is for those experiencing the most challenging hardships and need the most support from our family.

Many people choose to make charitable gifts but need to do so in a way that helps meet their other personal, family or financial needs. Planned gifts give you options for making your charitable gifts in ways that may allow you to:

  • Make a larger charitable gift than you thought possible
  • Increase your current income
  • Plan for the financial needs of a spouse or loved one
  • Provide inheritances for your heirs at a reduced cost
  • Reduce your income tax and/or avoid capital gains tax
  • Diversify your investment portfolio
  • Receive income from your personal residence
  • Plan for the transfer of your business
  • Leave a charitable legacy for future generations

The St. Joseph Hospital Foundation does not provide legal or tax advice. We recommend you seek your own legal and tax advice in connection with gift and planning matters.

Consider making a gift in memory or in honor of a loved one. Please include the name to whom you would like the donation attributed. If the donation exceeds $1,000, your loved one’s name will be added to our Memorial Wall near the elevators.

A gift of appreciated stock is a fantastic way to support patient care and community outreach at the hospital. Click here for instructions on making a gift of stock.

When your choice is “in lieu of flowers or gifts,” consider suggesting a tribute gift for your loved one to St. Joseph Hospital.

Consider the following wording for the newspaper obituary notice of your loved one: “In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of (name of deceased) may be made to St. Joseph Hospital (name specific program, if you’d like) in care of St. Joseph Hospital, Foundation Office, 172 Kinsley Street, PO Box 2013, Nashua, NH 03061-2013.”

When you put St. Joseph Hospital in your estate plans, you immediately become a member of the St. Joseph The Worker Legacy Society. Your commitment and faith in St. Joe’s are greatly appreciated and we will do our best to steward your gift intentions. You can receive tax benefits and even generate extra income for the rest of your life by making a planned gift to St. Joseph Hospital in your will, trust, pooled life income fund, life insurance policy, charitable gift annuity or retirement fund.

Our planned giving society is named in honor of the Patron Saint of the hospital, St. Joseph The Worker. We invite you to build your legacy to help us provide compassionate care for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of patients, family and friends.

For the first time in more than six years, the American Council on Gift Annuities has increased its suggested rates. St. Joseph Hospital is now offering these new, higher rates.

Here’s an example of a CGA: 75-year-old couple John and Sue would like to diversify their estate plan, as well as give back to their community. They establish a $100,000 charitable gift annuity to St. Joseph Hospital. At a rate of 5.5%, they are guaranteed a $5,500 payment each year, for the remainder of their lives. After John and Sue both pass away the remaining amount will be used to support St. Joseph Hospital’s vital work.
The typical charitable gift annuity donor:

  • Is 65+ years old
  • Would like additional income
  • Likes the idea of a fixed lifetime payment
  • Has assets that generate little income, such as interest or dividends
  • Has assets with a low tax cost basis
