What is Gastroenterology?

Gastroenterology involves the study and treatment of your digestive organs. The team of board-certified providers at St. Joseph Hospital Gastroenterology in Nashua, New Hampshire, works with you to diagnose and treat even the most complex conditions. Some of those conditions treated include, but are not limited to: heartburn, Celiac Disease, ulcers, pancreatitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), polyps of the large intestine, reflux esophagitis, bloody stool, cramping, and bloating.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy

An Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, or EGD, is a short procedure that allows our team of board-certified providers to examine your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure takes less than an hour, and you can go home the same day.

Bravo pH Test

A Bravo pH test is needed if you are experiencing heartburn, chest pain, coughing, and more. This test measures the acidity in your esophagus, helping diagnose acid reflux disease.

Video Capsule Endoscopy

At St. Joseph Hospital Gastroenterology in Nashua, New Hampshire, we perform video capsule endoscopies, which involve patients swallowing a pill-sized camera that records images of the digestive tract. It is used to find the cause of intestinal bleeding, examining the esophagus, and screening for diseases – including cancer.
